Happy Birthday, Sissy!

My first baby will be 8 this Friday! Where has the time gone????
-
It seems like only a couple of years ago that my water broke while I was sleeping and hubby tried to convince me that I had just tee-teed on myself! Granted, we had just gone the night before because I thought I was going into labor - but it ended up being false labor.
-
By the time we got back to the hospital, I found out what true labor pains felt like. WOWWW! I had planned on trying to go natural...but after a couple of hours of excruciating pain...and finding out that I was only at 2 cm....well, I decided that epidurals were a very wise decision!
-
So, anyway here she is now. She is my Sunshine! And I just found out that she told her teacher she wants to be a missionary and art teacher when she grows up! I knew about the art, but the missionary part was new for me....such mixed emotions....I think: "Wow that's Awesome!" And yet I want to let her know that missionaries can work right here in the good old South!
-
But just yesterday she said she wants to teach at the school that she attends....only God knows what the future holds. But I do have faith that He will use her in an incredible way!

So, Happy Birthday to my sweet, sweet girl!

Riding bikes and chasing chickens

I truly love living in the country. Yes, sometimes I wish it didn't take 35-40 minutes to get to school, or that my kids had neighborhood friends to play with, or that Wal-Mart was a little closer...but I love my home and our land. I love that my mother-in-law lives next door (I know some of you cringe at the thought, but I'm blessed that that is not my case). I love that my husband made a dirt bike trail for the kids to ride on. I love that my kids can chase the chickens through the pasture. I love that they have created a "Look-out Club" that they can spend hours in. And I love that they never argue or pick on each other - oops, that last one was a just a dream I had!

Anyway, enjoy this quick video of a new use for the dirt track:

Anniversary trip was great!

We are back and we had an awesome time! And Hubby surprised me by staying til Monday! We stayed at a Wyndham Resort. It was great weather and was not crowded at all.

Hubby and I are not big shoppers, but we spent 5 hours Saturday at the Outlets near Destin! And we spent more money than we probably should have. But he says that once every 10 years is okay!

Saturday night we went out to eat at Firefly. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it! It was absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't be taking the kids though. It is really, really nice. Actually as I ate the bread with the 3 types of spread (yummmmy) they bring to you, I had a waiter reach over my shoulder and place my fork and knife back in the correct positions. Hubby can see my face and he just is smiling. I cannot see the waiter and I just sit there. Well, then the waiter sits my food down in front of me....so he was actually just preparing a spot for my meal, while I thought he was correcting my bad etiquette - maybe he was doing both!!!

Sunday I spent all day sitting out reading a book, without any interruptions! Well, except for the Professional Boat racing that took place right in front of our Condo! I had never seen that before, and boy was it loud! But it was really cool. That night we walked to Sharky's and ate. The food was good and we would definitely take the kids here. They even have a playground!

I was so excited to see the kids today. It is great to be home and am still very Thankful to have had a quiet few days with my wonderful husband!!!

A lesson on being Thankful

"You get what you get and you don't pitch a fit!" - I've said that many times to my kids. And last night I didn't do too well taking my own advice.

I have planned for a couple of months now to go with Hubby to the beach for our 10 year anniversary. We were to leave tomorrow morning and return Monday. So I've been packing some things. I packed a bag for the kids for Monday morning to drop off at my mom's this afternoon. Hubby sees the bag and asks what it is. I tell him. He says, "But we're coming back Sunday." I say, "No, the reservations are for 3 nights." He tells me, "Sorry, I can't do that. I have a job that I have to start on Monday morning." Oh my, I wanted to scream and yell....to my benefit, I didn't "pitch a fit" but he could definitely tell that I was not a happy person. He then fills me in on the fact (for the 1000th time) that he works to pay for the kids' school, our house, our TRIP to the beach, and that I am being ungrateful. (OUCH!)

So, as I cooled off, I realized that although our trip is one day shorter - it is still a trip. We haven't had an "alone trip" in 4 years. And I am thankful that we are now going. And I am thankful that I have such a hard-working husband. And I am thankful that we never even argued over whether or not I would stay-at-home. It was something we both wanted. I am thankful that I have a wonderful house. I am thankful that I have three awesome and healthy children. I am thankful that I have a Savior who forgives me when I fail.

I am soooo THANKFUL!!!!!!

Bubby, Sissy, and Baby Girl

Bubby's teacher (he is repeating K4) approached me to let me know that although he has not had to sit in time-out, that he does need to calm down and that he has this "something" about him this year that he may need to work on. One example is that he will roll up his sleeves and kind of be big and bad - she admitted it was quite funny, but maybe not appropiate. I can't help but giggle because he just tries so hard to be big like his daddy. He adores grown-up men and thinks it's sooo cool to get to hang out with daddy and any big guy buddy that may be around. But I do pray that he will not get too big for his britches!

Bubby also went to his first Auburn game! He said it was great. He went with Sissy, Aunt J, her two girls, and Papa. Papa said all went well except during the game Bubby had to go potty. Well, Papa doesn't like to miss a minute. But being the loving Papa that he is...they trek all the way to the bathroom where Bubby decides he doesn't need to go potty anymore! Oh, if I could have seen Papa's face!

Sissy was at a friend's house. She rode the scooter - busted it big time. So my sweet mommy friend bandaged her up and took good care of her. I got there and she was still riding the scooter and climbing the on the playset and jumping on the trampoline. I finally got my three loaded back in the car - I think they would have stayed there all day! As we cranked the car, Sissy started crying and complaining about her pinky. What???? So, I know she's sleepy. We go home and she crashes. She sleeps for 3 hours! When she wakes she says it still hurts - it is swollen and blue. I decide to ace bandage it. This got us through that night. We end up in the ER on Sunday morning. Yes, it is broken. The doctor puts a half-cast on that can be removed for showers and such. He told me to follow up with a specialist in a few days. Well, I made an appointment and almost decided not to go - I mean really, what else can be done? So, we do go to the specialist. He says that it is a break that goes through her growth plate and that it is imperative to put a full-cast on for atleast 2 1/2 weeks. Okay - I am very glad we went.

Baby Girl has been having a great time at school. She is singing some songs that we sang last year (she was in the class that I taught) but I guess she doesn't remember that, because now I can't sing with her. She says they are hers and Mrs. Rockett's songs!

I'm not sure what I'm in for with Baby Girl. With my other two they have yet to really care what other kids are doing (as in after-school activities) but she, just at 3 years old comes home and tells me she wants to take ballet because Kirra and Brooklyn are taking it! But admittedly, she does love to dance at home. But good gracious, the price was a litte daunting. I just thought it was a little much for a three year old, especially since the lessons are during her nap time. So, maybe next year. For now we will just dance at home!!!
